Prior Learning & Credit Transfer

Recognition of Prior Learning

finances.jpgVLBTC has a commitment to recognise a student’s prior learning and provides advanced standing in subjects for competencies already held by students.

All applicants for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) will be provided with a copy of the Prospectus and with a list of units, elements of competency and assessment criteria for unit(s) being claimed.

Applicants who are able to provide satisfactory evidence that they have achieved the required competencies will be eligible to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and an exemption of a particular subject within a unit. They may be required to attend an interview and/or complete an assessment task that is representative of assessment in specific elements of competency. Further information regarding RPL costs and procedures can be obtained upon request.

Credit Transfer

Transfer students from other accredited schools may enter VLBTC with advance standing provided they present a transcript and have an equal grade in subjects parallel in content and emphasis, number of hours spent in class contact and academic level of previous study and credit value to subjects in VLBTC’s curriculum.

Credit transfer for students from non-accredited schools will be subject to sound validations and may occasionally be limited to partial credit.

Final decisions for recognition of a student’s Prior Learning or Credit Transfer are made by the Principal in consultation with the VLBTC Curriculum Committee and senior members of the educational staff for the relevant unit.
